General Info

Tucked along Station Way, La Costa Grill at 168 Station Way, Arroyo Grande, CA 93420, United States delivers the kind of laid-back Mexican restaurant experience that feels both casual and memorable. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere feels welcoming. The outdoor seating area is a great spot to relax, especially when the weather is nice, and the fast service makes it easy to stop by whether you’re meeting friends or grabbing a quick bite.

The menu focuses on bold Mexican flavors, and several standout dishes immediately catch your attention. One item that truly lives up to the praise you often see in local reviews is the Wet Chile Verde Burrito. It arrives generously covered in rich chile verde sauce, and the flavors balance perfectly between savory and slightly tangy. The burrito is hearty and comforting, making it a go-to choice if you want something filling.

Another must-try is the Chicken Taco, which keeps things simple yet satisfying. The chicken is tender and well seasoned, while the fresh toppings add a nice crunch and brightness. It’s the kind of taco that reminds you why classic Mexican street-style flavors remain so popular.

For something with deeper, richer flavor, the Birria Taco is worth ordering. The slow-cooked meat has a juicy texture, and each bite feels packed with savory goodness. It pairs nicely with the lively atmosphere of the restaurant, especially if you’re dining with a group and sharing different items from the menu.

One sandwich-style favorite that stands out is the Cubana Torta. This dish brings together layers of bold ingredients in a soft roll, creating a satisfying balance of textures. It’s flavorful, filling, and different enough from typical taco or burrito choices to make it a great addition to the meal.

Beyond the food, the service setup at La Costa Grill adds convenience to the experience. Curbside pickup is available for those days when you want the same delicious menu items without dining in. Meanwhile, the fast service keeps the flow moving, even when the restaurant gets busy. If you’re dining with friends or family, the space works well for groups, making it a comfortable place to share a relaxed meal.

Another nice touch is that alcohol is available, which complements the food nicely and adds to the casual dining vibe. Combined with the friendly setting and well-loved dishes, it’s easy to see why many diners return and leave positive reviews after visiting this Arroyo Grande location.

What customers say?

“ WOW this place is so good!! We ordered to go quesabarrilla tacos (edit, barillia tacos on DoorDash aren’t the same as the quesa barillia we ordered in the restaurant so be aware of that) and I can’t even express how delicious they were. We’ve had them many places and they were hands down the best we’ve ever had. There was even rice at the bottom of the consume that we scooped up with chips and ate it that way. The restaurant has a really nice patio that we probably would have enjoyed if it wasn’t raining and it was very clean. They have a salsa bar with a lot of options as well. Best Mexican restaurant in town by far! We can’t wait to go back and try more dishes. ”

“ We came in for dinner and everything was fantastic. I had the carne asada and grilled chicken tacos—hot, fresh, and full of flavor. My husband had the pork verde burrito (wet) along with a birria taco, and both were excellent. The food here is consistently delicious. I usually order the chicken flautas, but since it was Tuesday I wanted tacos and I was not disappointed. They also have their beer & wine license back, and an ice-cold Corona was perfect. On top of the great food, the owners are wonderful people—friendly, personable, and always make you feel welcome. Great food, great portions, and great people! ”

“ I have been searching for enchiladas made their way for a while. So light, the chicken was shredded finely and was moist, and seasoned so perfectly. Delicious beans and rice. The salsa and chips were on point as well! The patio was a perfect blockade from the wind. The menu had everything you could ask for and more! Prices were average and affordable. I can’t wait to go back and will recommend to everyone I know. ”

“ Hands down, they have the best Chili Relleno! My husband and I order them everywhere we go and haven't had one as good in a long time, and it was cooked to perfection! The place is small, but they do have outdoor seating as well. They even have a salsa station, which was also good. Actually, everything we had including tamale, tacos, rice and beans were all exceptional! ”

“ Today was our first time back at La Costa Grill (we had gone several years ago, but under different ownership). What a wonderful experience, all the way around. I had the Chile Relleno lunch special (I think around 12$) and my husband had the chicken posole. Both were served piping hot and were quite tasty -- I often find (at other places) that the chile for chile relleno is too bland -- even tasting canned, but this was the "real deal". The chicken posole was so good, I even ordered an extra one to take home to another family member. Patio was lovely and conveniently located next to the AG Miners. The woman at the front was delightful! Would definitely return for a casual, good tasting, reasonably priced, not fancy and inviting restaurant. I think they may be more of a lunch place and not sure if they are open on Sundays. ”

“ The BEST salsa verde I have ever had! And Joanna is the kindest and sweetest waitress! I highly recommend it! ”

“ This place is a gem. I had the California burrito which was delicious. It paired very well with their unique salsa verdes. ”

- Clayton Morris -

“ Great little spot with a huge patio! This isn't the sort of Mexican restaurant if you're looking for lots of spice, but they make up for it in flavor. Tried the quesobirria with juice. The birria was tender and delicious. Messy but not overly oily. I couldn't leave without finishing all the juice. The servers were nice and very quick. A lovely little spot for lunch! ”
